New Artwork Reveal: “Femme Fatales” – Bold and evocative!
I’m thrilled to share my latest piece, Femme Fatales — a bold, evocative watercolor and acrylic painting that explores the duality of feminine strength and seduction. A lot of my paintings in the past have been in black and white but I decided to rework this piece which was originally in black and white. I chose the brightest and strongest colors I had access to and as was travelling my art supplies were dwindling! The painting is a celebration of feminine complexity and allure.

Arianna
Struggling against the current was not my style but somehow I had found myself stuck in that groove, a groove that seemed to be gaining momentum and felt like it was paralysing me. I had read literally hundreds of success stories, stories of rags to riches or of famous people, people who I respected and learnt that the majority of their lives had somehow ‘fallen’ into place. And I had developed this warped belief that there were a limited amount of opportunities that were divvied up at birth and doors that open at certain critical times in ones life. It was increasingly apparent I was starting to lose faith in myself, and worse,…

Heddy (aka Hedvig Tilly Sørensen)
I was born Hedvig Tilly Sørensen (aka Heddy) in an extremely small town called Toco (aka Shady Grove) Texas. I bet you thought I was going to say somewhere in Scandinavia coolish like Copenhagen, but alas no. My closest city and closest to Europe I had ever been was Paris, Paris Texas, USA. I had been in and out of numerous foster homes my whole life and never knew who my birth parents were until a weird synchronistic chain of events took place. Maybe fate, destiny, not sure, but here in this tiny town of Toco, population 89, one very small school and a weird landmark plane, I was found by a talent…

Rianne
Washington Square park was abuzz, nothing out of the ordinary as it was a swelteringly hot late summers day. Rianne darted, weaving in and out of the already crowds of milling people. She had woken up much earlier than her routine Wednesday where she normally would hop on her bike and ride madly across town to the small florist shop she sometimes worked part time in over the summer months. Rianne could hardly contain herself and hadn’t really slept the previous night. She was nervous as she was heading to an early morning coffee date. Rianne’s signature look was animal print, but particularly one proud leopard print outfit which already had a few…

INTERVIEW in TaintedGlory.co.uk
Imperfect, sometimes flawed. That is beauty to me. Not airbrushed perfection’ Fiona Maclean is a painter, illustrator, makeup artist, photographer & writer based in Sydney, Australia. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your art practice? Why and how did you become an artist? I was an exceptionally shy person growing up and found that I felt connected to people by painting people especially faces. It started out more as a hobby and what gave me a lot of joy to studying graphic design, makeup and fine art. Although I am mostly self-taught when it comes to fine art as my studies were cut short due to family tragedy. The inspiration behind my…

Met Gala’s ‘Heavenly Bodies’ inspiration for my fashion Illustration
This year the Met Gala celebrities became beautiful works of art, inspired by the opening of the Costume Institutes annual fashion exhibition ‘Heavenly Bodies’ which opens May 10th 2018 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The hair, the makeup the costumes were pure works of art. As I work as a freelance fashion illustrator and costume illustrator I am inspired by the world of fashion, photography, art and film. The above fashion illustration is inspired by the glamour and beauty of the Met gala, twilight silhouettes and the beautiful fashion photography by Paolo Roversi whose work features in Vogue magazines from around the world.
